Innside New York Nomad Hotel

April 2016

New York, NY -- Peter Poon Architects, a design practice known for creating signature Manhattan hotels and interiors, is announcing  the completion last month of the new INNSide New York Nomad hotel.  Located on West 27th street, adjacent to the up and coming NoMad district, and just east the street from the Fashion Institute of Technology the project is in convenient proximity to Chelsea, the Garment District, Greenwich Village and Union Square. The property also includes the triple-height Impero Caffe an Italian restaurant managed by celebrity chef, Scott Conant.   “We are thrilled with the final result of this hotel,” remarked PPA Principal in Charge, George Kewin. “The contemporary The 313 room hotel is located on 132 West 27th Streets between 6th and 7th Avenue in the Nomad district close to Times Square and Madison Garden.

About the Design
The new 21-story flagship hotel is clad in a full window wall and entered by passing under a stunning 120-foot long glass canopy opening from the sidewalk through the spacious lobby and bar floor to a rear garden.  PPA’s design for the lobby, bar, garden terrace and full service double- height restaurant fulfills the expectation of the neighborhood.

The hotel’s modern image is created by a classic glass façade that stretches the full 120-foot width of the building. The hotel, set back in contrast to the gritty buildings lining the street of this tough neighborhood and also providing a full width garden arcade,  is a welcome and fresh addition.

INNSide is a European brand emphasizing contemporary architecture for the sophisticated business traveler. PPA was commissioned in 2013 to design both the building and the interiors for the first of its kind in the United States. The hotel is a 21-story modern building located half a block from the Fashion Institute of Technology in NoMad District.

Even Hotel Time Square

December 2015

New York, NY – Peter Poon Architects, a design practice known for creating signature Manhattan hotels and interiors, is announcing the completion of the new 150 room EVEN Times Square. Located at 321 West 35th Street between 8th and 9th Avenue the hotel is located in the tough but rapidly changing Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood south of Times Square. PPA was commissioned in 2012 to design this second urban location for the EVEN Hotel brand. PPA was also commissioned to design the first urban EVEN Hotel at 219 East 44th Street.

About the Design
This 25-story hotel is steps away from Jacob Javits Center, Madison Square Garden and Herald Square. PPA articulated the façades with a horizontal pattern of bands that syncopate and incorporate the fenestration providing for a building tower volume that is understated and handsome. The tower is set-back and fits into the neighborhood of large working loft buildings.

The storefront and marquee are finished with narrow horizontal metal slat.  This nice street element is consistent with the EVEN hotel brand emphasis on human scale, wellness and health. The entrance is called out sparingly from down the block with a metal slat cantilevered marquee with brand signage

PPA’s interior configuration is noted by a triple-height lounge and food area descending two cellar levels enhanced by amphitheater seating for guest relaxation seating and socializing.  During events, mezzanine side balconies provide for viewing activity below and a spot for a DJ to entertain.
